Greater than or equal to 18 years; carrier of an incurable disease; in exclusive palliative treatment or in joint follow-up (palliative care and oncology); be aware of the disease, incurability and prognosis; be able to understand and express themselves verbally and in writing through the Portuguese language spoken in Brazil; express spontaneous desire to participate in Dignity Therapy at the time of identification of eligibility criteria
Having psychiatric illnesses such as personality disorders; mood disorders; anxiety disorders and psychoses through the evaluation of records in the medical record or prior knowledge of the patient; impaired cognitive ability to carry out reflections such as in situations of delirium due to organ dysfunction and/or end of life as well as dementia; prognosis less than two (2) weeks; for this last criterion it is possible to consider exceptions mainly if the patient has a very strong desire to undergo Dignity Therapy and for this it is extremely important to rearrange the organization of time; the prognosis only limits the patient's participation if it makes it impossible to maintain a conscious and guided dialogue
