In the clinical file-group: All clinical files from the years 2003 to 2015 of children aged from 0 to 14 years for whom maltreatment was confirmed.
In the control group: parents of children aged from 0 to 14 years who consulted the pediatric clinic of the University Hospital Mainz.
In the clinical file-group: clinical files of children, who died.
In the control group: suspected child maltreatment.
