Inclusion Criteria

Patients aged 18 or older with clinical suspicion of acute adenoviral keratoconjunctivitis and those with disease duration of up to 3 days were included.
Exclusion criteria were as follows: previous treatment, allergy to iodine or steroid, known steroid-induced glaucoma, history of herpes simplex keratitis, pregnancy. In addition, patients in which adenovirus was not identified by PCR were excluded (although treatment was not delayed while waiting for results).
