All patients more than 18 years of age with intercostal drain for chest trauma
Patients with preexisting lung pathology
Other preexisting chronic painful conditions (E.g. malignancy, chronic pancreatitis, etc.)
Patients with GCS less than 15
Contraindications to intrapleural block

â?? Extensive block site infection
â?? Emphysema
â?? Bullous lung disease
â?? Recent pleural disease or pleurodesis
â?? Empyema
â?? Coagulopathy
Contralateral phrenic nerve palsy
Patients not willing for incentive spirometry
Patients requiring ventilatory support
Hemodynamically unstable patients
