1.All patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgery at BMC during the study period
2.Patients who will consent to participate in the study
1. All patients with open contaminated fractures
2. Administration of any other antibiotic within the 7 days preceding surgery and/or at the time of surgery;
3.Known history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactams;
4.Renal insufficiency, immunodeficiency disorders, severe HIV infection, pregnancy and diabetes
5.Previous or preexisting infection of soft tissue, bone or at the site of the fracture
