Inclusion Criteria

Outpatient treatment at the local Lipid Metabolism Clinic of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Infectious Diseases
- Internally diagnosed fatty liver disease
- Age range 40-70 years, regardless of gender
- BMI < 35

Exclusion Criteria

- Non-compliance with inclusion criteria
- Withdrawal of study consent
- MRI contraindications (e.g., metal implants, claustrophobia)
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Lack of consent for communication of incidental MRI findings
- Associated diseases with the fatty liver having a significantly high impact on neurodegeneration:
- Pathological alcohol consumption (moderate alcohol consumption is tolerated)
- Liver cirrhosis
- Known malignancy
