1.Type 2 diabetes mellitus with HbA1C 6.5 to 8% having chronic periodontitis according to American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) classification 1999 and at least two non-adjacent sites with probing pocket depth of >=
5 mm.
2.Subjects aged 30- 60 years.
3.Subjects willing to participate in the study and maintain regular appointments.
1.Subjects prone to or with a history of allergic reactions to tetracycline or chlorhexidine.
2.Subjects who have received any form of periodontal therapy, surgical or non- surgical within past 6 months.
3.Subjects with aggressive periodontitis.
4.Subjects who have received antibiotic therapy within past 6months
5.Subjects on anti-inflammatory drug regimen since past 6months.
6.Subjects using mouth rinses.
7.Presence of pulpal or periapical involvement on qualifying teeth.
8.Poor, questionable or hopeless prognosis of qualifying teeth.
9.Subjects who have received orthodontic treatment in past 6months.
10.Pregnant and lactating women.
11.Physically and mentally challenged subjects.
12.Subjects using any other antimicrobial agents as adjunct for home care.
