Inclusion Criteria
Aged 18-80 years
ASA status 1 and 2
Non diabetic patients FBS less than 126mg/dl
surgery lasting for not more than 3 hours
elective surgery
Exclusion Criteria
Diabetic patients and altered glucose tolerance test
pregnant patients
Allergic to dexamethasone
Refusal of consent
Patients on steroid therapy and immunosuppressant therapy
Any intraoperative adverse events
