Brief Summary

Permethrin cure rates were approximately 50%, and the prevalence of infestation was 6.1%. The frequency of kdr mutations was 63.2%. A substantial association between the clinical response and the kdr genotype was revealed by multivariate regression analysis.

Inclusion Criteria

Male and female schoolchildren aged 6 to 13, with at least one live head louse identified through the dry combing method.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients with a history of allergy to permethrins, pyrethroids, pyrethrins, or chrysanthemum, coexisting scalp diseases and disorders, use of any pediculicide-based products or medication within the last two weeks, non-adherence to the protocol, or refusal to complete informed consent.
