Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. ASA physical status I or II
  • 2\. Patients undergoing midline laparotomy under general anaesthesia

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Known allergy to local anaesthetic and/or opioid drugs
  • 2\.History of opioid drug , substance/alcohol abuse
  • 3\.Any decompensated illness (renal, hepatic , respiratory or cardiac)
  • 4\.Any underlying coagulation disorder
  • 5\.Any neurological or psychiatric illness.
  • 6\.Unanticipated prolonged postoperative mechanical ventilation
  • 7\.Incision length greater than 20\-cm
  • 8\.Presence of midline incision due to previous surgery
