Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •1\. ASA physical status I or II
  • •2\. Patients undergoing midline laparotomy under general anaesthesia

Exclusion Criteria

  • •1\.Known allergy to local anaesthetic and/or opioid drugs
  • •2\.History of opioid drug , substance/alcohol abuse
  • •3\.Any decompensated illness (renal, hepatic , respiratory or cardiac)
  • •4\.Any underlying coagulation disorder
  • •5\.Any neurological or psychiatric illness.
  • •6\.Unanticipated prolonged postoperative mechanical ventilation
  • •7\.Incision length greater than 20\-cm
  • •8\.Presence of midline incision due to previous surgery
