Inclusion Criteria
All consecutive adult patients admitted to the ICU with shock and metabolic acidosis with a base deficit of >3mmol/L will be enrolled
Exclusion Criteria
Patient admitted to ICU with head injury, for respiratory disorders and COVID-19 infection will be excluded
