Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Elective surgery, general anesthesia (without intubation / without
  • •relaxation) is required
  • •\-Information about the study and written consent to the study
  • •\-No contraindications for the application of an EIT belt / for performing

Exclusion Criteria

  • •\-Aspiration risk during induction of anesthesia (rapid sequence induction)
  • •\-Intubation anesthesia/relaxation required during general anesthesia
  • •\-Difficult airway requiring awake fiberoptic intubation
  • •\-Emergency intubation/surgery
  • •\-Pregnancy
  • •\-EIT monitoring not possible due to:
  • •\-Immobilization (e.g. unstable spinal trauma / rib /
  • •Sternum, pelvic fractures, etc.) that prohibit usage of EIT belt
  • •or makes electrical impedance measurement impossible
  • •\- Patients with inserted transvenous or subcutaneous
