Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Patients aged 18\-65 years scheduled for decompressive craniotomy
  • 2Acute brain injury defined as intracranial injury presented within 48 hrs of insult (traumatic and non\-traumatic) and diagnosed by imaging of the brain (CT/MRI) which require decompression surgery.

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1Pre\-existing anaemia with Hb concentration \<10 g/dl.
  • 2\.Patients with coagulopathy with international normalised ratio (INR) \>1\.5\.
  • 3\.Patients with history of severe cardiac, pulmonary, liver or renal disease, or obesity (body mass index \>30\) and pregnancy will be excluded from this study.
  • Patients who are hemodynamically unstable.
  • Head injuries associated with other organ/ tissue trauma
  • Patients / relatives refusing to give consent.
