Inclusion Criteria

Patients with head injury either sex,tracheostomized and admitted to ICU for mechanical ventilation will be enrolled in the study.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients having

Other associated injuries of limb, thorax or abdomen,

requirement of FiO2 >.5

Respiratory disease such as COPD, bronchiectasis, emphysema, asthma

Renal dysfunctions

Cardiac disease

Haemodynamic instability

Obesity (BMI >30kg/m2)

Brain stem injury

Pregnancy/Lactation On ventilatory support for less than 48hrs or more than 7 days

will not be included in the study
