The study eligibility criteria were as follows: (1) > 18 years old, (2) scheduled for a diagnostic or therapeutic biliary ERCP, and (3) the provision of voluntary informed consent.
Patients were excluded if they met any of the following criteria: (1) patients with a history of ERCP-related procedures, (2) scheduled for a diagnostic or therapeutic pancreatic ERCP, (3) patients with a history of abdominal surgery and Billroth II or Roux-en-Y reconstruction, (4) pregnancy, (5) a patient with coagulopathy, or (6) a patient with serious cardiopulmonary disease.
