Inclusion Criteria
1. Men and women = 70 years of age with serum sodium of 130 mmol/l or below at time of admission to hospital.
Exclusion Criteria
1. Absent informed consent
2. Treatment in intensive care unit.
Specific handicaps that might limit a patient’s capability to perform one or more single tests (e.g. amputation in physical testing) do not lead to general exclusion.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Test at admission to hospital:<br>1. Barthel Katz Index (evaluation of activity of daily living)<br>2. Mini Mental State Test (Check on cognitive impairment, 30 questions)<br>3. DemTec (identify patients with cognitive impairment, dementia)<br>4. Clock Test (screening tool for perceptual disorders and cognitive impairment)<br>5. Geriatrische Depressions-Skala (15 questions regarding activity, mood, memory and humour)<br>6. Tinetti Test (check for individual impairments of mobility, balance and physical stability)<br>7. TUG (timed up-and-go Test) (check for basic mobility and walking speed)<br>8. Esslinger Transfer Scale (check for the grade of assistance they need in transferring from bed to chair and upright standing)<br>9. Handgrip Test (screen for malnutrition and sarcopenia)<br>10. Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) (identifying malnourished elderly patients)<br><br>Follow-up after 14 or 21 days.
