Inclusion Criteria

To be included in this study, participants must be over 40 years-old; medical diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis; pain for more than three months; have at least one of the following symptoms: limited range of motion, crepitus, difficulty/pain when going up and down stairs, walking, standing up or sitting in a chair

Exclusion Criteria

Exclusion criteria for the present study are history of knee surgery; presence of rheumatoid arthritis; initiation of opioid analgesia or intervention with corticosteroid injection or analgesic for knee pain within the last 30 days; inability to understand and complete study assessments or comply with study instructions; neurological diseases that could influence the investigated outcomes (e.g., stroke)

Primary Outcome Measures

It is expected to find a reduction in knee pain of approximately 20 millimeters assessed using an analogue pain scale from 0 to 100 millimeters.
Secondary Outcome Measures

It is expected to find an increase in quadriceps femoris activation of approximately 20% as assessed by surface electromyography.;It is expected to find an increase in knee range of motion of approximately 10 degrees assessed by means of a goniometer.;It is expected to find an increase in the strength of the knee extensors of approximately 20 kgf evaluated with a manual dynamometer.
