Adults over age 55 years, 2. All genders Meeting criteria for common mental disorders as per DSM V (excluding OCD and OCRDs). 4. PHQ-9 scores 5-19 and GAD-7 scores 5-14 (mild-moderate severity).
5. Adequate or corrected hearing and vision. 6. Intact capacity to consent 7. Stabilized on medication for depression and anxiety for at least 4 weeks and consenting to keep the dose constant (unless there is worsening).
1. Suicidal risk (as determined by SCID-CV screening questions on suicidality), severe major depression, agitation, psychosis, bipolar disorder- currently symptomatic, current substance dependence (other than tobacco); obsessive-compulsive disorder.
2. Significant cognitive impairments that interfere with participation in the study and/or any medical/neurological complications/disorders that may interfere with participation in the therapy. Older adults who are unable to provide consent.
3. Clinically assessed intellectual or other disability that may compromise the ability to consent and participate in CBT.
4. Having received CBT of at least 10 sessions in the last 6 months. 5. On benzodiazepines
