Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • The subjects of this study were a total of 32 patients suffering from ankle instability who visited S Hospital in Gyeonggi\-do.
  • The selection criteria for study subjects were as follows according to the International Ankle Consortium (Gribble et al., 2013\): those with a history of at least one significant ankle sprain, those with an initial sprain that occurred at least 12 months before study enrollment, and those with inflammatory symptoms ( pain, swelling, etc.), those who have stopped physical activity for more than a day due to instability, those who have experienced ‘stumbling’ more than twice within a year, Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT): Score \< Those with a score of 24 or less were selected.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Exclusion criteria for study subjects were those with a history of previous surgery on the musculoskeletal structures (i.e., bones, joint structures, and nerves) of both lower extremities according to the International Ankle Consortium (Gribble et al., 2013\), and those requiring realignment on both sides. Those with a history of fracture of the lower extremity, an acute injury to the musculoskeletal structures of another joint of the lower extremity in the previous 3 months affecting the integrity and function of the joint (e.g. sprain, fracture) that resulted in interruption of desired physical activity for at least 1 day. Classified as those with cases.
  • All research subjects were informed of the purpose and details of the study and that they could withdraw their participation at any time without penalty, and then submitted a written consent form.
