AIM- To find the effectiveness of progressive resisted hand exercises in improving hand grip, endurance, performance and fatigue.

OBJECTIVES:

Primary Objectives :

  1. To assess the fatigue and performance levels by a self reported questionnaire and
  2. To evaluate the effectiveness of Hand grip strength, endurance , Performance and Fatigue and compare with the control group
  3. To find the incidence of Playing related musculoskeletal disorders among the Guitarists

Secondary Objectives :

  1. To assess fine motor grip in guitar players by pinch meter
  2. To assess Endurance in guitarist by Dynamic hand grip test

 NEED FOR STUDY  â€¢        Fine motor grip is essential for musicians, especially guitar players. It allows you to have precise control over the strings and frets, enabling you to play complex chords, intricate melodies, and perform techniques like bending and vibrato.

•        Developing and maintaining a strong fine motor grip can greatly enhance your playing ability and facilitate smoother and more accurate movements on the guitar. Exercises can have a positive effect on fine motor grip in musicians. They can help strengthen the muscles in your hands and fingers, improve dexterity, and enhance coordination. Regular practice of exercises specifically designed for musicians can result in better control, accuracy, and overall performance on your instrument. Studying physiotherapy exercises in guitar players is crucial for several reasons.

•        Exercises also help in preventing injuries by understanding the specific movements and biomechanics involved in guitar playing. This knowledge allows researchers to develop targeted exercises that strengthen the relevant muscles and joints, reducing the risk of common issues like tendonitis or carpal tunnel syndrome.

•        Furthermore, physiotherapy exercises play a vital role in the rehabilitation process for guitar players recovering from injuries or surgeries. Research in this area helps in developing tailored rehabilitation programs that facilitate quicker and more effective healing, allowing players to get back to their passion with minimized downtime. Lastly, studying these exercises promotes the long-term health and well-being of guitar players.

•        By addressing musculoskeletal issues and strain associated with prolonged playing, researchers can develop exercises that help maintain the physical health of guitar players, ensuring that they can continue enjoying their music for years to come. In conclusion, studying physiotherapy exercises in guitar players is essential for injury prevention, performance enhancement, rehabilitation, and long-term health. It allows for tailored approaches to address the specific needs of guitar players, ultimately improving their playing experience.

 HYPOTHESIS NULL HYPOTHESIS: There is no significant improvement in grip strength, endurance, fatigue and performance after performing a specific progressive resisted hand exercises.

 ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS: Grip strengthening exercises will improve the grip strength, endurance, fatigue and performance in the guitar players more than the control group.

Potential subjects will be screened (60 subjects)

Random Sampling Method will be performed.

Pre-assessment will be done for the pain by Pinch Guage, Dynamic hand grip endurance,Test for fatigue and Musician survey : self reported scale

Group A - Intervention (n=30) includes Hand grip exercises

Group B - Intervention (n=30) includes conventional therapy

Post assessment of the monitoring outcome will be done after 6 weeks Statistical analysis and result formation will be done after the treatment phase is complete.

入选标准

  • Age: 18 to 35 age group Guitar players of either gender Beginner guitar players (till 6 months of playing).

排除标准

  • Injury to hand (past 1 year) Those who had previously undergone surgery on their upper extremities (1 year) Any associated neurological problems Any associated musculoskeletal disorders leading to grip weakness Those who are already under a rehabilitation program/exercise regime.
