研究概览

简要总结

This study aims to explore how traditional male role expectations affect the mental health of middle-aged married men experiencing midlife crisis. The research adopts a mixed-methods design, combining quantitative screening using the Developmental Crisis Questionnaire (DCQ-12) with in-depth qualitative interviews. The primary objective is to assess the prevalence of midlife crisis and understand the psychological, familial, and societal challenges faced by this population. The study hypothesizes that strong adherence to traditional male roles is associated with greater emotional distress, difficulty in help-seeking, and reduced mental well-being during midlife.

The second assessment point will be during Phase 2, approximately 4 to 8 weeks after the initial screening, where selected participants (based on DCQ-12 scores) will undergo an in-depth qualitative interview to further explore their lived experiences of midlife challenges
