1.Age between 5 to 15 years whose parents/guardian will give consent.
2.Presence of at least one major clinical criterion (cough, sputum production, fever) or two minor criteria (pleuritic chest pain, dyspnoea, altered mental state, signs of pulmonary consolidation on examination or total leucocyte count >12,000per cumm) and/or;
3.Presence of a new pulmonary infiltrate/shadow on chest X-ray suggestive of pneumonia at or within 24 hours of hospitalization.
1.Hospital-acquired pneumonia,
2.Patients with Terminal illness,
3.Patients on ventilator,
4.Patients or guardian not willing to give consent,
5.Pulmonary shadow due to a cause other than pneumonia,
6.Patient brought from another hospital or with a history of hospitalization within 7 days of discharge.
