1.All patients who have sustained abdominal trauma and have underwent operative intervention within 24 hours of injury
2.Hemodynamically stable patients
1.Patients with age <13 years and >65 years
2.Patients with associated severe injuries such as open fractures , crushed/mangled extremities, vascular injuries, severe head injury or any other that requires prolonged antibiotic administration
3.Patients with co-morbidities like Hypertension, Diabetes, CKD, CLD, Immunocompromised state and coagulopathic disorders

Name Time Method To compare the rate of Surgical Site Infection (SSI) between 24 hour and 5 day antibiotic groups in abdominal trauma patients undergoing operative interventionTimepoint: Whenever signs of SSI show up or at 7,14,28 days postoperatively

Name Time Method To compare the 30 day mortality between both the antibiotic groupsTimepoint: 30 days;To compare the length of hospital stay between both the antibiotic groupsTimepoint: Till discharge;To compare the rate of non surgical site infections between both the antibiotic groupsTimepoint: Whenever the signs of non surgical site infections show up of at 7,14,28 days postoperatively;To compare the rates of readmission for SSI between both the antibiotic groupsTimepoint: Whenever the patient is readmitted due to SSI
