Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Inclusion: A diagnosis of recurrent major depressive disorder in full or partial remission according to the DSM\-IV, with 3 or more previous major depressive episodes; aged 18 or older; and on a therapeutic dose of ADM in line with the British National Formulary (BNF) and NICE guidance. We include older adults with depression on the basis of the high prevalence of depression in older adults and a promising pilot study of MBCT with this group (Smith, 2004\).
- •Exclusion: patients who are currently depressed, co\-morbid diagnoses of current substance dependence; organic brain damage; current/past psychosis, including bipolar disorder; persistent antisocial behaviour; persistent self\-injury requiring clinical management/therapy; and formal concurrent psychotherapy.
