Effects of Thai Herbal Hot Packs Combined with Lychee Seed on Pain, Range of Motion, Gait Speed and Quality of Life in The Elderly with Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Controlled Trial

After a 2-week intervention, when compared mean between groups, PTT at the patellar tendon (7.93 Kg/cm2) and popliteal tendon (6.86 Kg/cm2) of THHL significantly higher than SH groups (PTT 7.21 Kg/cm2 and 5.64 Kg/cm2 respectively), P-value 0.007 and 0.041. However, the WOMAC score in function (28.10) of the THHL group was significantly lower than the SH group, which had a WOMAC score of 22.10, indicating that the THHL group improved function better than the SH group, P value 0.037.

入选标准

•The study is limited to elderly individuals within the age group of 60-80 years, who have been officially diagnosed by a doctor with osteoarthritis in one or both of their knees. The pain level must be at level 4 or higher, as measured by the pain visual analog scale.

排除标准

•1. Individuals who have an underlying disease that cannot be controlled or have not received continuous treatment, such as advanced cancer, thrombosis, high blood pressure, and diabetes, are not eligible for the test. 2. Individuals who experience adverse symptoms during the test that make it impossible to continue, such as burns or heat intolerance, are not eligible for the test. 3. Individuals who have had an acute injury to the knee joint during the project period are not eligible for the test. 4. There are three symptoms to monitor: numbness or impaired sensation in the knee joint, history of knee replacement surgery, and use of painkillers or muscle relaxants for less than 24 hours.
