- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Perioperative respiratory complications - among them laryngospasm, bronchospasm, desaturation, stridor and bronchial aspiration.
Laryngospasm: upper airway obstruction that does not respond to usual airway obstruction maneuvers, accompanied by paradoxical ventilation requiring positive pressure ventilation for reversal, or use of propofol or use of muscle relaxant.
Bronchospasm: pulmonary auscultation with wheezing, usually treated with a beta-2-agonist.
Desaturation: oxygen saturation less than 90% for at least 1 minute.
Bronchial aspiration: presence of gastric contents in the upper airway with or without Mendelson syndrome.
Stridor: inspiratory noise normally heard without a stethoscope, usually treated with epinephrine nebulization.
