Inclusion Criteria

All patients-

1)Above 18 years of age

2)undergoing elective lower abdominal surgeries under spinal anaesthesia.

3)American Society of Anaesthesiology (ASA) grade I or II

4)BMI 20-30 Kg/m2

5)Who could understand and rate their pain on Visual Analog Scale (VAS; scale of 0â??10)

6)Provide written informed consent.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients who

1)Were unwilling to participate in the study

2)BMI >30 Kg/m2

3)Had a history of allergy with ropivacaine or dexamethasone or dexmedetomidine use

4)Had a history of drug abuse

5)Were unable to understand VAS

6)Had coagulopathy or risk of developing same.

7)Who did not tolerate spinal anaesthesia well and had to be converted to general anaesthesia for surgery.

8)Had surgery planned with general anaesthesia

9)Could not provide informed consent
