Comparative Randomized Clinical Trial to Evaluate the Efficacy of Marsha and Pratimarsha Nasya with Haridrakhanda orally in the management of Vataja Pratishyaya with respect to Allergic Rhinitisâ€

Pratishyaya (Rhinitis) has been a major problemto the physicians since long back.

*Vataja Pratishyaya (****Allergic rhinitis)***by word itself indicates that it is a recurrent condition and can precipitatedue to Minute etiological factors. Vata is the main dosha and Pitta, Kaphaare associated doshas.

Nose is the sense organ which perform two main functionsi.e. olfaction and respiration. Due to its direct contact with environment itis exposed to lots of microorganism, allergens and pollutants present inatmosphere. This disease is characterized by sneezing, running, stuffy anditchy nose, coughing, sore-throat, watery eyes, and frequent headaches.

In Ayurveda the Shira (head) is called the root of thebody as it contains Prana  and all Indriyas. The Nasyais the choice of administration of the medicine for the diseases manifesting atUrdhwajatrugata region and nose isthe gate way of Head, that means drugs administered via nose is highlyeffective in curing of diseases pertaining to head. It cleanses & opens thechannel of head and also has influence on the function of Brain. In classics ,it has mentioned that daily administration of Anu Taila  act as a preventiveand curative remedy for the diseases and preserves the health of the healthyindividual.

Many oral preparations have been mentioned in the Ayurvedictexts for the treatment of *Pratishyaya.*One amongest them is Haridrakhanda .  Haridra is the main content of it and is havingantihistaminic, antibacterial, antifungal, Shothaghna,Kandughna; Trikatu is having anti-inflammatory, antirhinoviral,antibacterial, Rasayana etc.properties, Triphala is having Srotoshodhana, Rasayana, antihistaminic,anti-inflammatory, antibacterial etc. properties.

Vidanga is havinganti-inflammatory, antibacterial, Rasayana,Srotoshodhaka etc. properties.

Haridrakhanda alsohas the properties like Medhya, Rasayana,Balya, Brimhana, Agni Deepana,Pachana, Shothahara, Jwarahara etc. which promotes the physical and mental healthof the patient.
