Inclusion Criteria
all asymptomatic patients
uncomplicated singleton pregnancies in the midtrimester (between 13 weeks to 27 weeks of gestation).
Exclusion Criteria
a history of preterm labor
patients with complaints of vaginal discharge
suspected chorioamnionitis
pregnancy following ART
preterm prelabor rupture of membranes
previous surgical preocedure invoving cervix
cervical encerclage during pregnancy
other comorbidities like preecclampsia, diabetes
