Study Overview
Brief Summary
This study is a randomised control trial to study the effect of hip and knee strengthening and proprioceptive training on Pain, Balance and Functional outcome in Patients with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome.This study included 62 patients diagnosed with patello femoral pain syndrome with in the age group of 18 to 45 years. The outcome measures used are Numerical pain rating scale (NPRS)
,Balance –Star excursion balance test,Kujala Anterior Knee Pain Scale.Although strengthening and proprioceptive training have shown individual benefits, there is a critical lack of well- designed studies investigating their combined effect, particularly in diverse population. Existing research is often limited to small sample size, lack of control groups and narrow participants demographics.
Most current studies focus on one intervention at a time, making it difficult to assess the potential synergistic effects of combining strengthening exercises with proprioceptive training, which could lead to more holistic and effective treatment approaches for PFPS.
Unlike previous studies that may have focused on a homogeneous sample, this research will include participants from diverse backgrounds in terms of age, gender, and severity of symptoms, ensuring that the results are applicable to a broader and more representative PFPS population.

Inclusion Criteria
- •Pain intensity 3 to 7 on vas score Peri and retropatellar non traumatic pain Pain to reproduce at least 2 task in squatting kneeling prolonged sitting stair ascending and descending hopping and running.
- •Positive patellar tilt test.
Exclusion Criteria
- •History of recurrent patellar subluxation or dislocation, History of surgery to the knee joint Patients with recent lower limb fractures or dislocations Signs, symptoms, or radiological findings of intra-articular pathologies, such as effusion, ligamentous or meniscal involvement, were excluded from the study.
- •Those with referred pain from the hip, back, or sacroiliac joint, acute knee strain or sprain Degenerative and infectious arthritis were also excluded.
