Inclusion Criteria

Men aged 18-45,whose partners have given birth in the last six days in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic in the University Medical Center Aachen.

Exclusion Criteria

- current or former neurological or psychiatric disorder,
- anti-depressive or anti-psychotic medication,
- current substance abuse,
- morbid obesity (BMI> 35kg/m2),
- severe illness of the newborn (infantile brain damage, chromosome aberration(s), severe congenital deformities), premature birth (< 29. week of pregnancy),
- poor comprehension of the German language.

- MRI exclusion criteria: metal implants (screws, plates, etc.) stents, clips, braces and retainer, cardiac surgery, epilepsy, larger tattoos, as well as further commonly known contraindications of a MRI measurement.

Primary Outcome Measures

The primary aim of the present study is to pinpoint respective risk factors for a paternal depression and to further, scrutinize its temporal dynamics.
Secondary Outcome Measures

In order to be able to investigate potential risk factors of a paternal depression, subjects are asked to fill out the following questionnaires every three weeks during the total observational period of 24 weeks:<br><br>T1-T8: EPDS, PPAS, PSS and the ZIP.<br><br><br>In case of a suspected paternal depression, we utilize the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale 21 (HAM-D) as a basis for evaluation of a depression.<br>
