Consecutive H. pylori-positive patients with GEN were included.
. Exclusion criteria included age: < 18 years or > 80 years; prior eradication treatment; severe concomitant diseases; history of allergy to any of the substances used in the study; previous gastric surgery; pregnancy or lactation; chronic use of corticosteroids or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; and multidrug resistance in the bacterial culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (resistance to all of the following drugs: clarithromycin, metronidazole and levofloxacin).
