Brief Summary

Vitiligo is a common skin disorder that is thought to be mediated by immunological mechanisms .In modern science , main stream of treatment for vitiligo is PUVA (Psoralen + Ultraviolet A), along with corticosteroid therapy ,etc ,which has several adverse effects , also carries health risks . Therefore , its high time to provide the patients of vitiligo with less complicating , fruitful management through ayurveda . This study is open labelled parallel group trial to prove the efficacy of virechana and avalgujadi lepa along with asanadi gana kwatha (internally) in the management of shwitra w.s.r to vitiligo  . In one group , 15 patients will be administered  virechana karma with aragwadha phala majja kashaya and internal administration of asanadi gana kwatha (15ml before food twice a day for 15 days ) . In another group, 15 patients will be administered with avalgujadi lepa and internal administration of asanadi gana kwatha  (15 ml before food twice a day for 15 days )

Inclusion Criteria

1.Patients diagnosed with uncomplicated vitiligo , either segmental or generalized 2.Patients indicated for virechana karma.

Exclusion Criteria

• Vitiligo associated with other systemic diseases like tuberculosis , rheumatoid arthritis ,Systemic lupus erythematous, anaemia,hypothyroidism etc 2.
• Patches due to burns , chemical explosion etc 3.
• Patients of albinism of skin.
