The subjects were required to be suffering chronic fatigue for over 6 months and in satisfactory health both physically and mentally, free from any significant cardiac, hepatic, renal, pulmonary, neurological, gastrointestinal, and hematological disease, as assessed at screening by physical examination, medical history, and laboratory (hematological and biochemical) tests. All participants gave their written informed consent and were able to comprehend fully the protocol, including the nature and purpose of the study as well as the possible risks and side effects.
Subjects were not eligible if they met any of the following criteria applied at the time of screening (pre-study): clinical abnormalities (including abnormal hematological and biochemical tests), not in satisfactory health in mental, history of any acute/chronic diseases, previous history of hypersensitivity to ginseng preparations, history of drug dependence or chronic alcohol, medication of anti-inflammatory or anti-biotics, regular smokers who smoke more than 20 cigarettes daily, and night workers, obesity(BMI>35), anxiety or depression(BDI>21, STAI>50)
