Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\. Lumbar herniated intervertebral disc or spinal stenosis diagnosed by CT or MRI
- •2\. Low back pain of at least 6\-month duration
- •3\. Aged 20–70 years
- •4\. Ability to comprehend or express him/herself in the Korean language
- •5\. Follow\-up possible during the clinical trial
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\. Side effect and hypersensitive reaction to acupuncture treatment
- •2\. Cauda equina syndrome, persistently exacerbated symptoms, progressive neurologic signs (i.e., sensory or motor changes)
- •3\. Previous spine surgery
- •4\. Neuromuscular scoliosis, neurodegenerative disease
- •5\. Pregnancy, lactation, or planned pregnancy
- •6\. Senile dementia, impaired cognitive function or other cerebral disease, severe psychiatric or psychological disorders
- •7\. Refusal to participate in the trial or provide informed consent
- •8\. Alcohol/drug abuse
- •9\. Abnormal finding on renal or hepatic function blood test
- •10\. Individual deemed ineligible by the recruiting physician.
