Patients with age more than 25 years with Serum Sodium >135 at admission undergoing orthopaedic surgery will be included
Patients with conditions known for hyponatremia (e.g.
cirrhosis, chronic renal failure, congestivecardiacfailure, orAIDS) and syndrome of
inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone secretion (head trauma, meningitis, stroke,
subarachnoidor subdural haemorrhage, Guillainâ??Barre syndrome, aspergillosis, lung abscess,
pneumonia,tuberculosis, intermittent porphyria and acute psychosis) will be excluded

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Patientâ??s age, gender, regular medication, comorbidities, type of surgery,surgical duration, <br/ ><br>Serum sodium (Na), potassium, blood urea nitrogen(BUN), creatinine (Cr), glomerular <br/ ><br>filtration rate (GFR), glucose, haemoglobin (Hb) . urinary Na, Cr, urea, osmolality will be recorded on presence of hyponatremia <br/ ><br>(Na135).Timepoint: Preoperatively and <br/ ><br>Post operatively
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Post-operative requirement of tramadol and morphine will also be noted.Timepoint: POST OPERATIVELY
