Adults with cough for greater than 2 months after exclusion of other common causes of cough (asthma, eosinophilic bronchitis, gastroeosophogeal reflux and upper airway syndrome).

Active smoking or smoking history in excess of 20 pack years.
Non-idiopathic cough or other major co-morbidity including abnormal liver function tests
Taking medication known to interact with azithromycin (cylcosporin, terfenadine, theophylline and warfarin).
