1) Acute LAS = 1 week
2) Severe ankle sprains *
3) Agree with our protocols (STOP-LAS †)
LAS, lateral ankle sprains; * Severe ankle sprains were defined when more than 3 of 4 clinical severity criteria was met. Clnical severity criteria : 1) Limping due to weight-bearing pain until post-injury 1 week, 2) Pain and tenderness on both medial and lateral sides of the injured ankle, 3) Bruise around ankle, 4) Swelling so severe that the skin cannot be wrinkled on the lateral side of ankle, †Stepwise Target-Oriented Protocols for Lateral Ankle Sprains
1) Patients with obvious fracture lines other than lateral ligament avulsion fractures on foot and ankle radiographs
2) Patients who can not be followed up on for their recovery status at 3 months
