Intraoperative glycaemic control has an important role in improving surgical outcomes even in nondiabetic patients. Good glycaemic control and use of insulin to maintain glucose levels has been shown to prevent renal complications in patients undergoing cardiac surgeries as well as myriad cellular and organelle level benefits. Patient outcomes like hospital stay are also impacted by the level of glycaemic control thus, having an economic impact as well.
Most recommendations on peri-operative glucose control mainly focus on defined blood glucose ranges, anti-hyperglycaemic medications and continuous insulin infusions10. Surprisingly few studies include choice of appropriate IV fluids as part of peri-operative blood glucose management.
The goal of this study is to observe the effect of 0.9% saline and Ringer’s Lactate on intra-operative blood glucose levels in diabetic patients undergoing elective non-cardiac surgeries.

入选标准
- •Age between 18 to 80 years.
- •Diabetic patients with normal Renal function test and Liver function test American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status II and III Patients undergoing elective non-cardiac surgeries under regional anaesthesia.
- •Provides Consent.
排除标准
- •Patient undergoing emergency surgery.
- •Pregnant females Patient who are unable or unwilling to give consent.
- •Patients requiring colloids (including blood and blood products) at any stage of surgery Patients who do not fulfil inclusion criteria.
