Brief Summary

*Gridhrasi* is an intractable physical complaint whichaffects the ambulatory functiomn of the patient. *Gridhrasi* comes under 80 types of *Nanatmaja Vatavyadhi* though, occasionally there is *Kaphanubandha*. The name itself indicatesthe gate shown by the patients due to extreme pain just like a *Gridhra* (vulture), it is clear that thisdisease not only inflicts pain butalso causes difficulty in walking, which is very much frustrating and embracingto the patient. In present scenario, thetreatment modalities for sciatica is conservative treatment with analgesic,physiotherapy, muscle relaxants, narcotics and few require surgery which hasits own disadvantages or expensive. Previously on *Gridhrasi* no research work done on the comparison of *Matra Basti*7 and *Kati Basti*8with*Ashtakatwara Taila*9, so this study is being undertaken to seethe effect of *Matra Basti* and *Kati Basti* with *Ashtakatwara Taila* in the patient of *Gridhrasi* w.s.r. to Sciatica

Inclusion Criteria
  • 1.Diagnosed and confirmed cases of Gridhrasi (Sciatica).
  • Patients between the age group of 20-70 years, irrespective of religion, sex, occupation, cast etc.
  • 3.Patients willing to give written consent.
Exclusion Criteria
  • 1.Known cases of any major illness e.g. uncontrolled HTN, DM, TB, AIDS, Malignancy, etc.
  • 2.Patients below the age of 20 years and above 70 years 3.Patients having Wound, Stitches, Abrasions, Abscess, Bruise, Cut & other types of injury on lumber region.
  • 4.Patients who have lost the control on bladder and defecation.
  • 5.Pregnant women.
