Inclusion Criteria

Age between 13 and 17 (at the start of treatment).
- Suffering from a mental illness (depressive episode, eating disorder, anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder) according to the criteria of ICD 10
- Inpatient admission to the Schön Klinik Bad Arolsen

Exclusion Criteria

- Acute suicidality
- Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, organic mental disorder
- Other current Axis I disorder as primary diagnosis?
- Severe physical illness; no consent from physicians at Schön Klinik
- Physical condition not sufficiently stable due to anorexia nervosa

Primary Outcome Measures

The primary outcome is mood change after completing at least 3 of 5 components of the TGGT, defined by change in depressive symptomatology on the BDI-II, BSI and PHQ (T4 discharge compared with admission T0) compared to the TAU group.
Secondary Outcome Measures

The secondary outcome is the change in depressive symptomatology (BDI-FS, ADS), mindfulness skills (FFA), self-esteem (MSWS), self-concept (BYI-2), before and after animal-assisted group therapy as well as depressive symptomatoloty (BDI-FS), motivation and adherence (number of attended sessions) during the intervention (after each session).
