Are Sleep Drugs Safe for People with Dementia?

Dementia often causes sleep issues, with many turning to sleep aids, but experts warn against their use due to ineffectiveness and harmful side effects. Instead, they recommend behavioral interventions, mental stimulation, and lifestyle changes to improve sleep without risks. Medications should be a last resort, with a focus on regulating the sleep-wake cycle through light exposure, activity, and a consistent schedule.
