Herbal extracts in orofacial pain: a systematic review and direct and indirect meta-analysis

7709 studies identified, 62 included after deduplication and assessment. Most studies were blinded with sample sizes ranging from 15 to 270 patients. 70 different plants from 44 families were identified. Risk of bias assessment showed 27 studies with concerns, 22 with low risk, and 13 with high risk. 62 papers identified 17 orofacial pain conditions categorized into six groups. Meta-analyses found herbal extracts more effective in reducing periodontal, oral surgery, oral neuropathic, endodontic, oral mucosal, and TMD pain compared to standard therapies.

Tonik launching transdermal vitamin, botanical patches across Asia

Tonik, an Australian wellness company, plans to introduce its transdermal patches to China early next year, following successful launches in Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Thailand. The patches, formulated by naturopath Glenn Summerville, offer sleep and stress relief using homeopathic ingredients. Tonik's patches have seen 300% month-on-month sales growth, with the US and Australia as their largest markets. The company aims to educate Chinese consumers about the benefits of transdermal delivery, which bypasses the digestive system, offering a gentler alternative to oral supplements.
