The AO Foundation, a global leader in musculoskeletal disorder treatment research, has selected TransPerfect Life Sciences' Trial Interactive platform to digitize and modernize its clinical trial operations. This strategic partnership, announced on May 13, 2025, will support the foundation's upcoming clinical trials with advanced eClinical solutions including eISF, Study Collaborate, and eTMF.
Based in Davos, Switzerland, the AO Foundation is transitioning from legacy systems and paper-based processes to a fully digital and inspection-ready infrastructure. This significant technological upgrade aims to enhance the foundation's research capabilities in musculoskeletal disorders and trauma treatment.
"Our collaboration with the AO Foundation reflects a shared commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation," commented Michael Smyth, Division President of Trial Interactive. "By transitioning from legacy systems and paper-based processes to our robust and interoperable eClinical platform, the AO Foundation is well-positioned to achieve operational excellence and regulatory compliance."
Dr. Katrin Simioni, Deputy Head of Clinical Operations at the AO Foundation, emphasized the alignment between the organizations: "Trial Interactive's expertise is an excellent match to our engagement in clinical trials. Their platforms offer all features we need to improve our workflows, ensuring high-quality studies for our mission to improve patient treatment."
The implementation of Trial Interactive's platform represents a significant advancement in how the AO Foundation will manage its clinical trials. The 21 CFR part 11-compliant, AI-powered platform provides an author-to-archive collaboration experience with comprehensive solutions for clinical document management, site selection, site activation, e-learning, compliance training, quality management, and clinical trial management systems (CTMS).
These digital tools will enable the foundation's project managers and data scientists to streamline operations, reduce compliance risks, expedite timelines, and ultimately improve operational excellence. The platform's interoperability and seamless indexing to the electronic Trial Master File (eTMF) further enhance its utility for complex clinical research.
The AO Foundation has established itself as a preeminent organization in the field of musculoskeletal research and education since its founding by Swiss surgeons in 1958. The foundation has developed specialty areas for trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial (CMF), veterinary (VET), and reconstructive surgery (Recon).
