Amplia Therapeutics Secures U.S. Patent Protection for FAK Inhibitor Narmafotinib Through 2040

The Certificate of Grant extends protection for the drug candidate to at least 2040 in the United States and other major pharmaceutical markets.
Patent Protection Strengthens Intellectual Property Portfolio
The granted patent, titled "A salt and crystal form of a FAK (搜索) Inhibitor," protects the specific form of narmafotinib being developed clinically by the Australian pharmaceutical company. The patent has already been secured in various important jurisdictions including Europe, Japan, India, Korea and Australia, with protection in other regions currently under review by respective patent offices.

Clinical Development in Pancreatic Cancer
Narmafotinib (AMP945) is Amplia's best-in-class inhibitor of the protein FAK (搜索), which is over-expressed in pancreatic cancer (搜索) and represents a drug target gaining increasing attention for its role in solid tumors. The highly potent and selective FAK inhibitor has demonstrated promising data across a range of preclinical cancer studies.
The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in the ACCENT trial, where it is administered in combination with the chemotherapies gemcitabine and Abraxane in first-line patients with advanced pancreatic cancer (搜索). The trial has already achieved its primary endpoint with a confirmed response rate of 33%, which is superior to the 23% reported in the benchmark MPACT study for gemcitabine and Abraxane alone. An interim median progression-free survival of 7.6 months has also been reported.
Expanding Clinical Program
Amplia has recently opened a second trial called AMPLICITY, which is being conducted under an IND at sites in Australia and the US. This study is investigating the combination of narmafotinib with the chemotherapy regimen FOLFIRINOX in advanced pancreatic cancer (搜索) patients.
