•Native speaker level in German (for patients prior to stroke)
•For patients:
•- Etiology: first stroke
•- Phase of disease: subacute or chronic phase (at least 6 weeks after stroke)
•- Presence of aphasia/ residual aphasia
•- Capacity to consent
•- Treatment at the Aachen aphasia ward at the time of participation in the study

•- Active implants
•- Intracorporal metal which can harm the patient by movement or heating
•- Dentures with magnetic parts
•- Implant in head which leads to severe artifacts
•- MR-safe passive implants (e.g., artificial knee or hip) without valid document
•- Claustrophobia
•- Pregnancy
•- Other independent neurological diseases which lead to language disorders, particularly dementia and severe microangiopathies
•- Uncontrolled epilepsy
