•Outpatient or inpatient treatment at a clinic participating in the study.
•- The clinical picture is consistent with the diagnosis of SHP AND the diagnosis has been confirmed by direct (DIF) and / or indirect immunofluorescence microscopy (IIF).
•- The clinical picture is consistent with the diagnosis of SHP, the diagnosis was not confirmable by DIF or IIF, but none of the other possible causative underlying diseases / co-morbidities listed below are present:
•- Graft versus Host disease (GVHD)
•- Trauma / chemical burns / surgery / irradiation
•- Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)
•- Trachoma
•- Membranous / pseudomembranous / ligneous conjunctivitis
•- Conjunctival neoplasms/malignancies
•- Sarcoidosis

•- The clinical picture is consistent with the diagnosis of SHP, but the diagnosis cannot be confirmed by DIF or IIF and/or one of the other possible underlying diseases/co-morbidities listed below is present:
•- Graft versus Host disease (GVHD)
•- Trauma / chemical burns / surgery / irradiation
•- Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)
•- Trachoma
•- Membranous / pseudomembranous / ligneous conjunctivitis
•- Conjunctival neoplasms/malignancies
•- Sarcoidosis
