简要总结

This study aims to compare the effects of combined plyometric and eccentric training versus the FIFA 11+ program on the hamstring-to-quadriceps (H:Q) strength ratio among football players. Football involves repetitive high-intensity movements such as sprinting, jumping, and rapid directional changes, which increase the risk of hamstring strains and non-contact ACL injuries. An imbalance in the H:Q ratio, particularly reduced eccentric hamstring strength, is considered a major modifiable risk factor for such injuries. Although the FIFA 11+ program is widely implemented for injury prevention, it may not provide sufficient targeted eccentric loading to correct existing muscle imbalances.

This randomized parallel-group clinical trial will include 40 footballers aged 14 years and above with an H:Q ratio below 0.6. Participants will be randomly allocated into two groups: Group A will undergo combined plyometric and eccentric training, while Group B will perform the FIFA 11+ program. The intervention will be conducted twice weekly for four weeks. Hamstring and quadriceps strength will be assessed pre- and post-intervention using a push-pull dynamometer and EMG analysis. The findings of this study may help identify a more effective physiotherapy-based injury prevention strategy to optimize neuromuscular balance and reduce lower-limb injury risk in football players.

入选标准

  • Participants included in the study will be football players of all genders aged 14 years and above, with a minimum of one year of playing experience in football.
  • Only those athletes demonstrating a hamstring-to-quadriceps (H:Q) strength ratio of less than 0.6 will be considered eligible for participation.
  • All participants must be willing to take part in the study and provide written informed consent; for participants below 18 years of age, parental consent and participant assent will be obtained prior to enrollment.

排除标准

  • Participants will be excluded if they have sustained any recent fractures, lower limb injuries, or undergone surgery within the past six months.
  • Individuals with diagnosed hypertension, neurological disorders, or cardiovascular conditions will also be excluded.
  • Additionally, footballers currently undergoing any other structured performance training program or rehabilitation program that may influence muscle strength or neuromuscular performance will not be included in the study to avoid confounding effects.
