Anemia and hypertension are common pregnancy-related conditions that can significantly impact both maternal and fetal health. Anemia, characterized by low red blood cell or hemoglobin levels, can lead to fatigue, weakness, and complications such as preterm birth or low birth weight if untreated. Hypertension, which includes gestational hypertension and preeclampsia, poses risks like organ damage and preterm birth, requiring vigilant monitoring and management. Gestational hypertension typically resolves after childbirth, while preeclampsia demands closer attention.

Effective management of these conditions through routine prenatal care is essential for preventing complications. Monitoring hemoglobin, ferritin levels, and blood pressure, alongside appropriate interventions like iron supplementation, dietary changes, and lifestyle adjustments, helps ensure better maternal and fetal outcomes. In some cases, medications may be prescribed for hypertension management.

This invention introduces a smartphone application-based point of care system designed to monitor and manage anemia and hypertension among antenatal mothers in real time. By providing healthcare providers with a platform for regular health assessments, the app enables early detection and timely interventions, reducing risks for both the mother and baby. This technology can particularly benefit underserved populations by enhancing access to care and improving prenatal health outcomes, offering a modern approach to managing these critical pregnancy conditions.
