- •The only inclusion criterion was that the municipalities participating in the study belonged to the reference area of the Reference Center for Special Immunobiologic Products (RCSIP) of Botucatu, state of Sao Paulo. The municipality of Jahu was chosen as the municipality for implementation of the study intervention by convenience. We used as controls the remaining 69 municipalities belonging to the same RCSIP.
- •Note: The present study used a strict administrative intervention at the ecological level. The sample size described in the previous item refers to an estimate of the population residing in the study areas.
